The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Book, the Clear Koran. 1 It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and for aspiration to involve them in play so they will shortly come to know. 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the admonition hath been sent down! verily thou art possessed. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels, if what you say is true' 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before thee, among the factions of the ancients, 10 And there never came an apostle to them but they mocked him. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. 13 And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it, 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
