The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear. 1 A time will surely come when those who are bent on denying the truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God, 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it. 4 No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 And there never came an apostle to them but they mocked him. 11 Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners - 12 They believe not therein, and already the example of the ancients hath gone forth. 13 Yet even had We opened to them a gateway to heaven and they had ascended, on and on, up to it, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
