The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time]. 2 Leave them that they may eat and enjoy themselves and (that) hope may beguile them, for they will soon know. 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No people can outstrip the term for its destruction nor can it delay it. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have! 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. 10 And never does a Noble Messenger come to them, but they mock at him. 11 So We make it enter the hearts of the sinners. 12 They would not believe in it (the Quran), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. 13 If We were even to open for them a way to the heavens, and they could continually climb up to it in broad daylight, 14 they would still have said: "Surely our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we have been enchanted." 15
