Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44
