Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
