Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 until the day of a known time." 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
