Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
