Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 When I have completed shaping him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall you down before him in prostration." 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled. 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
