Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
