AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 until the day of a known time." 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
