We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
