Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
