We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 till the appointed time. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
