When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
