At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
