When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
