And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
