And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
