When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said, “These are my guests do not dishonour me.” 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
