Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
