And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
