When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
