And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
