The dwellers in El-Hijr cried lies to the Envoys. 80 And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" - 89 Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators 90 Those who break the Qur'an into parts. 91 By your Lord We shall question them one and all 92 Of what they used to do. 93 Promulgate thou that which thou art commanded, and turn away from the associaters. 94 verily, We shall suffice thee against all who [now] deride [this message - all] 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 And well do We know that thy bosom is constricted by the [blasphemous] things that they say: 97 Proclaim thy Lord's praise, and be of those that bow, 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99
