Surely the people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars. 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 They would carve secure houses out of the mountains. 82 But the Shout seized them in the morning, 83 And all that which they used to earn availed them not. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 Do not even cast your eyes towards the worldly goods We have granted to different kinds of people, nor grieve over the state they are in, but turn your loving attention to the believers instead, 88 And proclaim, “Indeed I, yes I, am the clear Herald of Warning.” 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please). 91 so by your Lord, We will question them all 92 About all what they used to do. 93 Proclaim then, what you are commanded and turn away from the unbelievers. 94 Surely We suffice to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. 97 but extol thou thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Him] in adoration, 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99
