۞ BEHOLD, God enjoins justice, and the doing of good, and generosity towards [one's] fellow-men; and He forbids all that is shameful and all that runs counter to reason, as well as envy; [and] He exhorts you [repeatedly] so that you might bear [all this] in mind. 90 Fulfill the covenant of God when you have made one; and do not break your pledges after their confirmation. Indeed you have made God your surety; for God knows all that you do. 91 Do not, like the woman who unravels her yarn after its strands have been firmly spun, use your oaths as a means of deceiving one another, just because one community could become bigger than another. God is only testing you by means of this. On the Day of Resurrection He will make it clear to you what you differed about. 92 Had God pleased, He would have united you in one community; but He lets go astray whoever He will, and guides whoever He will, and you will surely be called upon to account for all your actions. 93 Do not use your oaths to deceive each other lest any foot should slip after being firmly placed and lest you should taste the penalty for having hindered others from the path of God, for then you will have a terrible punishment. 94 And do not trade God's covenant for a paltry price. Remember, what is with God is better for you, if only you knew! 95 What is with you passes away and what is with Allah is enduring; and We will most certainly give to those who are patient their reward for the best of what they did. 96 We shall invest whosoever works for good, whether man or woman, with a pleasant life, and reward them in accordance with the best of what they have done. 97 And when thou wouldst read the Qur'an seek refuge with Allah from Satan the damned. 98 Surely he has no authority over those who believe and rely on their Lord. 99 His power is only over those who take him as their patron, and those who ascribe equals (to God). 100
