۞ And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) "Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word. 23 And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small." 24 Your Lord knows what is in your souls. If you would be righteous, know that He is All-forgiving to those who turn to Him in repentance. 25 And give to the near of kin his due and (to) the needy and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully. 26 Lo! the squanderers were ever brothers of the devils, and the devil was ever an ingrate to his Lord. 27 And if thou turnest away from them awaiting a mercy from thy Lord which thou hopest, then speak unto them a gentle speech. 28 And let not thine hand be chained to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to the utmost stretching, lest thou sit down reproached, impoverished. 29 Surely thy Lord outspreads and straitens His provision unto whom He will; surely He is aware of and sees His servants. 30
