They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" 85 If We willed, We could take away that We have revealed to thee, then thou wouldst find none thereover to guard thee against Us, 86 except through the special mercy of your Lord. His favours towards you has been great indeed. 87 Say: "If the mankind and the jinns were together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they helped one another." 88 We have given examples of every kind to men in this Qur'an in various ways, and even then most men disdain everything but unbelief, 89 And they say: We will by no means believe in you until you cause a fountain to gush forth from the earth for us. 90 or that there be a garden of palms and vines for you and then you cause rivers to abundantly flow forth through them; 91 or, until you cause the sky to fall upon us in pieces, as you have claimed, or, as a surety bring Allah with the angels in front; 92 Or you should have a house of gold, or you should ascend into heaven, and we will not believe in your ascending until you bring down to us a book which we may read. Say: Glory be to my Lord; am I aught but a mortal apostle? 93
