The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise belongs to Allah who has sent down the Book to His worshiper (Prophet Muhammad) and has not made any crookedness in it, 1 Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward, 2 and they will live for ever therein. 3 Furthermore, [this divine writ is meant] to warn all those who assert, "God has taken unto Himself a son." 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Perhaps you will destroy yourself out of grief because they disbelieve this Book. 6 Verily We have made whatsoever is on the earth as an adornment thereof, that We may prove them - which of them is best in work. 7 We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
