The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who has revealed to His servant the Book devoid of all crookedness; 1 Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward, 2 therein to abide for ever, 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers; a grievous word it is that comes out of their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie. 5 Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). 6 Verily We have made whatsoever is on the earth as an adornment thereof, that We may prove them - which of them is best in work. 7 And indeed We shall one day make all that is on it a barren plain. 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." 10 For many years We sealed up their hearing in the Cave, 11 Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried! 12
