The pilgrimage is (performed in) the well-known months; so whoever determines the performance of the pilgrimage therein, there shall be no intercourse nor fornication nor quarrelling amongst one another; and whatever good you do, Allah knows it; and make provision, for surely the provision is the guarding of oneself, and be careful (of your duty) to Me, O men of understanding. 197 There is no blame on you in seeking bounty from your Lord, so when you hasten on from "Arafat", then remember Allah near the Holy Monument, and remember Him as He has guided you, though before that you were certainly of the erring ones. 198 Then hurry from the place whence the other people have hurried, and ask forgiveness of Allah, verily Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 199 So when you have completed your Hajj rites, remember Allah as you used to remember your forefathers, in fact more than that; and among the people are some that say, “Our Lord! Give us in this world” – and he does not have a portion in the Hereafter. 200 Then there are others who say, "Our Lord, give us what is good in this world and also what is good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of Fire." 201 For them there is in store a goodly portion out of that which they have earned. Allah is swift at reckoning. 202 ۞ And remember Allah on the days numbered. Then whosoever hasteneth in two days on him is no sin, and whosoever delayeth on him is no sin: this for him who feareth. So fear Allah, and know that verily unto Him shall ye be gathered. 203 And of mankind there is he whoso conversation on the life of this world pleaseth thee (Muhammad), and he calleth Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart; yet he is the most rigid of opponents. 204 But whenever he prevails, he goes about the earth spreading corruption and destroying [man's] tilth and progeny: and God does not love corruption. 205 Whenever he is told: "Obey God," his arrogance leads him to more sin; and sufficient for him shall be Hell: How evil a place of wide expanse! 206 On the other side, there is another type of man who devotes his whole life to please Allah, and Allah is gracious to such of His servants. 207 O People who Believe! Enter Islam in full – and do not follow the footsteps of the devil; indeed he is your open enemy. 208 But if you lapse after the clear signs that have come to you, then know that God is mighty and wise. 209 Are these people waiting, perchance, for God to reveal Himself unto them in the shadows of the clouds, together with the angels - although [by then] all will have been decided, and unto God all things will have been brought back? 210
