And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnain. Say: "I shall recite to you something of his story." 83 Indeed We established him upon the earth, and We gave him to everything a way. 84 and he followed a way 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." 86 He submitted, “Regarding one who has done injustice, we shall soon punish him – he will then be brought back to his Lord, Who will punish him severely.” 87 But as for him who believes and does righteous deeds - he will have the ultimate good [of the life to come] as his reward; and [as for us,] we shall make binding on him [only] that which is easy to fulfill." 88 He then followed (another) road 89 until he reached the limit where the sun rises and he found it rising on a people whom We had provided no shelter from it. 90 Thus indeed it was. We had full knowledge of him. 91 And once again he chose the right means [to achieve a right end]. 92 Till, when he came between the two mountains, he found upon their hither side a folk that scarce could understand a saying. 93 They said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?" 94 He said: That wherein my Lord hath established me is better (than your tribute). Do but help me with strength (of men), I will set between you and them a bank. 95 Bring me blocks of iron to fill up the passage between the two mountains." He told them to ply their bellows until the iron became hot as fire. Then he told them to pour on it molten brass." 96 Thus (Gog and Magog) could neither climb over it nor dig a hole through (the rampart). 97 He said: 'This is a mercy from my Lord. But when my Lord's promise is come, He will make it dust. The promise of my Lord is true' 98 ۞ And We shall leave them on that day surging one against other and the trumpet shall be blown, and then We shall assemble them together. 99 And We shall bring hell in front of the disbelievers. 100 whose eyes were blinded to My remembrance and they were not able to hear. 101
