And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. 41 He said to his father: 'O father, why worship that which can neither see nor hear, nor helps you in anything? 42 "O my father! to me hath come knowledge which hath not reached thee: so follow me: I will guide thee to a way that is even and straight. 43 "O my father! Do not worship Satan - for, verily, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious! 44 Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan' 45 He said, “What! You turn away from my Gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you, and keep no relation with me for a long while.” 46 Abraham said, "Peace be with you. I shall ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been gracious to me. 47 Now I will go apart from you and that you call upon, apart from God; I will call upon my Lord, and haply I shall not be, in calling upon my Lord, unprosperous. 48 So when he had separated himself from them and from what they worshipped besides God, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each of them a prophet. 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
