Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet. 41 When he said to his father, 'Father, why worshippest thou that which neither hears nor sees, nor avails thee anything? 42 O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path. 43 "O my father! Do not worship Satan - for, verily, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious! 44 O My father! verily I fear that there may touch thee a torment from the Compassionate so that thou become to the Satan a companion. 45 He said: Rejectest thou my gods, O Abraham? If thou cease not, I shall surely stone thee. Depart from me a long while! 46 Abraham said: "Peace be on thee: I will pray to my Lord for thy forgiveness: for He is to me Most Gracious. 47 I shall stay away from you and what you worship instead of God. I worship my Lord and hope that my prayers will not be ignored." 48 Thereupon Abraham dissociated himself from his people and the deities they worshipped instead of Allah, and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and made each of them a Prophet; 49 and We gave them of Our Mercy and We appointed to them a truthful, highly sincere tongue, 50
