And mention in the Book (the Quran) Ibrahim (Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet. 41 Behold, he said to his father: "O my father! why worship that which heareth not and seeth not, and can profit thee nothing? 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 "O my father! serve not Satan: for Satan is a rebel against (Allah) Most Gracious. 44 O my father! I dread lest a chastisement from the Most Gracious befall thee, and then thou wilt become [aware of having been] close unto Satan!" 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 Abraham answered: "Peace be upon you. I shall seek pardon for you from my Lord. My Lord has always been kind to Me. 47 And I will withdraw from you and what you call on besides Allah, and I will call upon my Lord; may be I shall not remain unblessed in calling upon my Lord. 48 So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), and each one of them We made a Prophet. 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
