T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Ta. Ha. 1 We have not Sent down on thee the Qur'an that thou shouldst be distressed. 2 But only as an admonition to those who fear (Allah),- 3 a revelation from Him who created the earth and the high heavens; 4 The Beneficent One, Who is established on the Throne. 5 To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and whatever lies in between them, and all that lies under the ground. 6 Be thou loud in thy speech, yet surely He knows the secret and that yet more hidden. 7 God is the only Lord and to Him belong all the exalted Names. 8 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 9 When he saw a fire he said to his family: "You wait here. I have seen a fire. I may haply be able to bring an ember from it, or find direction by the fire." 10 When he reached it, he was called: 'O Moses, 11 Verily I! I am thy Lord: so take off thy shoes; verily thou art into the holy valley, Tuwa. 12 I have chosen you. Therefore, listen to what shall be revealed. 13 I am God, and there is no god but I, so serve Me, and observe acts of prayer to remember Me. 14 The Hour is coming. But I choose to keep it hidden, so that every human being may be recompensed in accordance with his labours. 15 Hence, let not anyone who does not believe in its coming and follows [but] his own desires divert thee from [belief in] it, lest thou perish! 16 And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?" 17 'It is my staff," Moses replied, "upon it I lean and with it I beat down leaves to feed my sheep and for me there are other uses in it' 18 He said: "Moses, throw it down." 19 So he threw it - and lo! it was a snake, moving rapidly. 20 He said: Grasp it and fear not. We shall return it to its former state. 21 Now clasp thy hand to thy arm-pit; it shall come forth white, without evil. That is a second sign. 22 We shall show you some of Our greatest signs. 23 And go to Pharaoh now for he has transgressed all bounds." 24
