Aaron had already told them, "O my people! You are only being tested by this. Your Lord is the All Merciful, so follow me and obey my command." 90 They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Musa (Moses) returns to us." 91 Musa said: O Harun! what prevented thee, when thou sawest them going astray. 92 That thou followedst me not! Hast thou disobeyed my command? 93 He said: O son of my mother! Clutch not my beard nor my head! I feared lest thou shouldst say: Thou hast caused division among the Children of Israel, and hast not waited for my word. 94 Said [Moses]: "What, then, didst thou have in view, O Samaritan?" 95 He said: I saw (Jibreel) what they did not see, so I took a handful (of the dust) from the footsteps of the messenger, then I threw it in the casting; thus did my soul commend to me 96 'Depart!' said Moses. 'It shall be thine all this life to cry "Untouchable!" And thereafter a tryst awaits thee thou canst not fail to keep Behold thy god, to whom all the day thou wast cleaving! We will surely burn it and scatter its ashes into the sea. 97 Your only deity is God, there is no deity but Him. His knowledge encompasses all things." 98 Thus We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) some information of what happened before. And indeed We have given you from Us a Reminder (this Quran). 99 All who shall turn away from it will, verily, bear a [heavy] burden on the Day of Resurrection: 100 therein abiding forever; how evil upon the Day of Resurrection that burden for them! 101 The Day whereon the trumpet will be blown into, and We shall gather the culprits on that Day blear-eyed, 102 In whispers will they consult each other: "Yet tarried not longer than ten (Days); 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
