Yet Aaron had aforetime said to them, 'My people, you have been tempted by this thing, no more; surety your Lord is the All-merciful; therefore follow me, and obey my commandment!' 90 [But] they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses comes back to us!" 91 [And now that he had come back, Moses] said: "O Aaron! What has prevented thee, when thou didst see that they had gone astray, 92 So that you did not follow me? Did you then disobey my order? 93 (Aaron) replied: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head! Truly I feared lest thou shouldst say, 'Thou has caused a division among the children of Israel, and thou didst not respect my word!'" 94 Said [Moses]: "What, then, didst thou have in view, O Samaritan?" 95 He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 (O Muhammad), thus do We recount to you the events of the past, and We have bestowed upon you from Ourself an admonition. 99 He who turns away from it will surely bear a heavy burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 And will live for ever under it. How evil the burden they will carry on the Day of Doom! 101 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown (the second blowing): that Day, We shall gather the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.) Zurqa: (blue or blind eyed with black faces). 102 whispering unto one another, "You have spent but ten [days on earth] 103 We know well what they will utter, whereas the wisest among them will say, “You have stayed just for a day.” 104
