And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Musa (Moses) returns to us." 91 He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray, 92 from following after me, did you disobey my order' 93 'Son of my mother' he replied, 'Do not seize my beard nor my head. I was afraid that you might say: "You have divided the Children of Israel and did not uphold my word." 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." 96 Moses said, "Go away! Throughout your life you will not be able to let anyone touch you. This will be your punishment in this life. The time for your final punishment is inevitable. You will never be able to avoid it. Look at your god which you have been worshipping. We will burn it in the fire and scatter its ashes into the sea." 97 Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge." 98 Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us the Qur'an. 99 He who turns away from it will surely bear a heavy burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 they will abide in this [state,] and grievous for them will be the weight [of that burden] on the Day of Resurrection 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 They shall whisper among themselves: "You stayed on the earth barely ten days." 103 We know very well what they will say, when the justest of them in the way will say, 'You have tarried only a day.' 104
