And assuredly Harun had said unto them afore: O my people! ye are only being tempted thereby; and verily your Lord is the Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command. 90 They said: We shall by no means cease to be its votaries till Moses return unto us. 91 Musa said: O Harun! what prevented thee, when thou sawest them going astray. 92 "From following me? Didst thou then disobey my order?" 93 He said: O son of my mother! seize me not by my beard nor by my head; surely I was afraid lest you should say: You have caused a division among the children of Israel and not waited for my word. 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He said: I perceived what they perceive not, so I seized a handful from the footsteps of the messenger, and then threw it in. Thus my soul commended to me. 96 Musa said: begone thou! verily it shall be thine in life to say no contact; and verily thine is an appointment which thou shalt by no means fail. And look at thy god to which thou hast been assiduous; we shall surely burn it, and we shall scatter it into the sea a wide scattering. 97 Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge." 98 Thus We recount unto thee some tidings of that which hath preceded; and surely We have vouchsafed unto thee from before Us an admonition. 99 Whoever turns away from it, will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. 100 therein abiding forever; how evil upon the Day of Resurrection that burden for them! 101 On the day when the Trumpet is blown and We shall assemble the guilty on that day, blue -eyed. 102 and they shall murmur among themselves: 'You have stayed away but ten (days and nights)' 103 We know very well what they will say, when the best among them in knowledge and wisdom will say: "You stayed no longer than a day!" 104
