And when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, they fell prostrate (all) save Iblis; he refused. 116 Then We said: "O Adam! verily, this is an enemy to thee and thy wife: so let him not get you both out of the Garden, so that thou art landed in misery. 117 Verily you will have no hunger or nakedness there, 118 nor face thirst or scorching heat." 119 So the devil incited him, saying, “O Adam, shall I show you the tree of immortality and a kingdom that does not erode?” 120 Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts appeared to them, and they began to stick on themselves the leaves from Paradise for their covering. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray. 121 Thereafter his Lord exalted him, accepted his repentance, and bestowed guidance upon him, 122 He said: Go down hence, both of you, one of you a foe unto the other. But when there come unto you from Me a guidance, then whoso followeth My guidance, he will not go astray nor come to grief. 123 but whosoever turns away from My remembrance, his life shall be narrow and on the Day of Resurrection We shall raise him blind' 124 'My Lord' he will say: 'why have You raised me blind when I was able to see' 125 [Allah] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten." 126 Thus We recompense those who are unjust and have no faith in Our revelations. The torment in the life to come will be more severe and last longer. 127 Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. 128
