The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. 1 Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, 2 diverted their hearts. The evildoers whisper one to another, 'Is this aught but a mortal like to yourselves? What, will you take to sorcery with your eyes open?' 3 Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? 6 And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
