The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? 10
