۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship instead of God! Will you not, then, use your reason?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
