1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
