۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 When he asked his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?" 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
