۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
