۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
