۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
