۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
